Dr. Stern
Danielle Stern, MD is a fully licensed psychiatrist in New York and Illinois. She sees children (age 3 and above), adolescents, and adults via tele psychiatry-only. She focuses primarily on the evaluation of psychiatric disorders (ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD) and pharmacological management. She is also able to provide short-term CBT therapy for the treatment of ADHD.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Stern is a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She completed the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in 2025. She completed her training in general psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center and The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. While at UIC, Dr. Stern completed 2 years in the psychotherapy track with a special focus on CBT.
While Dr. Stern does not accept insurance, she is able to provide invoices to submit to your insurance to utilize your out-of-network benefits.
Services
Dr. Stern can help you decide if medication is appropriate for your symptoms, and tailor your psychopharmacotherapy to optimize your mental health while minimizing side effects. Dr. Stern takes a patient-centered approach, always engaging in shared decision-making throughout your treatment. Initial consultation is 75 minutes.
Dr. Stern will continue to meet with you and your child as frequently as needed during their treatment. This may mean more frequent visits initially that become spaced out further as your child progresses. Follow-up appointments are often 30 minutes and must always include both the parent/guardian and the child.
Dr. Stern can help you decide if medication is appropriate for your child’s symptoms, and tailor their psychopharmacotherapy to optimize their mental health while minimizing side effects. Dr. Stern takes a family-centered approach, always engaging in shared decision-making throughout your child’s treatment. An initial consultation will include meeting with the family together, the parent/guardian individually, and the child individually. This visit will be 120 minutes.
Dr. Stern will continue to meet with you as frequently as needed during your treatment. This may mean more frequent visits initially that become spaced out further as you progress. Follow-up appointments are often 25 minutes.
If deemed appropriate in the initial-consultation, Dr. Stern is also able to provide time-limited Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for adolescents and adults with ADHD. This can be in combination with psychopharmacology or stand-alone. She will work with you on evidence-based practices to improve your organizational skills, time-management, self-esteem, and executive functioning. Sessions are 45 minutes in length, typically no more than 5 sessions are offered.
